Growing our own plants at the Garden Centre has started as far back as 1977 when Peter and Paddy were growing vegetables for local Hotels and Restaurants. This has grown to such a extend that 85% of all the shrubs and a 100% of all bedding plants that are for sale in the Garden Centre, is produced by ourselves. All the vegetable plants available for sale from early spring is raised from certified seed by us.
Being able to produced plants ourselves has very distinct advantages such as
- products are grown locally,thus reduce mileage
- the plants are hardened off and would be stronger
- the selection of plants is more suited to local climate
- new varieties can be introduced to fill needs of our customers
